  • Need

Many local people (especially children and young people) have lost out as a result of the closure of 6 local libraries. Regular use of Libraries is down despite the fact that reading is recognised as very important. There are now far too few libraries in Brent and these are either too difficult or expensive to get to. Library use has plummeted as a result of the closures.

The Mobile Library supported by a consortia of local library groups will bring a Library Service to those people who have lost out as a result of the closures. We will identify the areas in greatest need and bring books and related activities into their community. A Mobile Library bus will be a different and exciting approach which we will make a fun experience and us it to encourage the love of books and reading.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To raise enough money to buy a 2nd hand Mobile Library and have enough money to operate it.

    » Hold regular Quiz Nights
» Sell surplus books and other materials at various Fairs and community events
» Launch a borough wide Appeal

    What success will look like

Success will be raising around £25,000 to enable us to purchase a emissions compliant 2nd hand Mobile Library and have enough money for 1 year's worth of running costs.

  • Impact

It will provide a Library service to large areas in London Borough of Brent which have lost out as a result of the recent closure of 6 libraries. It will help to support voluntary libraries set up by local people and promote reading, learning and education in generally.

There are no risks. If we do not raise enough money it will not start.

Through regular newsletters, websites, facebook, emails or what ever their preference may be.
