Charity information: The AHOY Centre
Our rowing challenges help us to raise essential funding to enable our work to continue with helping and supporting vulnerable young people and adults.
Our innovative water based and educational projects open up horizons for our many participants and volunteers - giving opportunities that would not otherwise be available in this part of London.

With this secured funding in place we will continue to expand our activities to enable us to help more people who need our charity's support.
We have 2 new programmes for 2012 which will take The AHOY charity into the new area of delivering NVQs and Apprenticeships which will offer young people commerical training which will lead to employment.
Lack of funding. We continue to apply to grant makers and funders as we do not receive regular funding from the public sector.

All the rowing training takes place at our Centre in Deptford, Greenwich, South London.
The rowing teams will improve personal fitness and team work plus having the satisfaction on knowing they are helping us to continue our charity's great work with helping vulnerable and disabled youth and adults.
The AHOY Centre is located in Deptford – one of the most densely populated areas - ranked 18 in the whole of the UK. As described by the Local MP Joan Ruddock – ‘it is one of the most deprived constituencies in Britain. Severe housing problems and widespread poverty remain......." Unemployment in the area is nearly twice the national average with high rates of truancy and anti-social behaviour.
