Oasis Aquila Housing
The project is addressing the problem of a shortage of housing. Individuals and couples who are not in priority need can often end up on a long housing waiting list and be at an increased risk of homelessness.
This project solves the problem but working with landlords to identify suitable properties and then works to identify suitable tenants. Tenants are supported to access housing through a bond deposit scheme.
Create 32 new tenancies per annum
Activities» We will do this by working with local landlords to idetify properties and continue to engage tenants who are in housing need
Success will be 32 tenacies created and the risk of homelessness allieviated
Ensure 95% of new tenancies are sustained after 6 months
Activities» We will do this by providing support to the tenant by undertaking regular visits to the tenancies
Success will be 95% occupancy after 6 months and stability of the tenancies
The long term changes will be the alleviation of street homelessness in Gateshead. We will demonstarte success by reaching the tragets we set out and keeping a record of our outcomes.
There is a risk that the tenants we support are not able to manage their bills and manage a tenacny. We overcome this by carefully checking each potential tenant and each landlord to ensure that they will both recieve a good service for their property/tenancy.
Funders of this project will receive a six monthly report on the project detailing the ongoing and forthcoming activities, and any necessary changes that have been made to the project plans.
