  • Need

The Chapel has stood on the site for over 100 years and now urgently needs large and small scale external and internal repairs and in parts complete rebuilding work. The masonry around the beautiful stained glass windows is crumbling. The roof needs replacing, the iconic cross which has stood proud at the apex of the roof since 1966 needs renovation and to be returned to its rightful place at the top of the Chapel building.

There is simply no additional monies in the school budget to pay for the repairs and rebuilding of the Chapel. By raising funds to pay for vital repairs, will save a building of historical and sentimental significance. The Chapel is an integral part of school life and will serve to inspire a new generation of pupils to continue to practice their Christian faith.

    What success will look like

Success will be raising £100,000 and gaining 1000 new donors and involving alumni and present intake of pupils in the fundraising.

  • Impact

The rebuilding and renovation of the school Chapel will inspire each new intake of pupils to discover and develop their God-given gifts and talents, to excel in the present and aim high for the future.

The lack of funds is the only risk at present which will prevent us from undertaking the building work

Funders will receive six monthly updates by email or post detailing the building works and fundraising progress. Updates with photos will be available for all on our web site with links to Facebook and Twitter.

As such it draws students from West Sussex, East Sussex and the unitary authority of Brighton & Hove.

Over 2000 local secondary school children, including primary school children from the 42 feeder schools within our catchment area will be inspired by the changes to the school Chapel.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Cardinal Newman Catholic School, rated Outstanding by Ofsted is the largest secondary school in East and West Sussex. At one time it was the only secondary Catholic school in the area. We have a history which dates back to 1870, when the nuns of the Sacred Heart order first established a school on the site.
