The Naomi project provides 24 hour staff supported accommodation to young women (age 16-30) facing homelessness for a wide variety of reasons including domestic violence, substance misuse recovery and relationship breakdown.
Project is on-going
Charity information: Oasis Aquila Housing
Our project is addressing the problem of homelessness among young people in Gateshead. The reasons for homelessness often include family breakdown, substance misuse, domestic violence and young people leaving care who are not yet ready to live alone or manage a tenancy.
Our project staff work with service users on individual support plans and provide practical help with domestic skills, managing money, basic DIY, training and employment and accessing other specialist services, to enable them to lead sustainable and independent lives.
Ensure service users have access to studying tools and resources

What success will look like
Success will be each of our 33 service users per annum having access to the resources they need to succssfully take part in education and training.
The long term changes will be the increase in the opportunities provided to our service users to take part in education and training which will lead to improved chances in gaining employment.
The main risk to this project is a service user who does not engage in support to access education or training. We deal with this via support sessions which the service user must attend with their dedicated project worker. The project worker will work with the service user to address barriers to engagement.
We report to donors as they request, this tends to be every 6 to 12 months.
