To bring housebound and socially isolated elderly people into our centre at Rhymney Valley Young at Hearts to give them a meal, advice and companionship

    To defeat loneliness and isolation in the elderly in some of the most deprived wards in Wales


    By bringing up to 20 elderly peolple into our centre at Rhymney Valley Young at Hearts

    What success will look like

    Success will be the reduction of loneliness and social exclusion

  • Impact


    Socially active elderly people will stay in their homes longer so reducing the load on care homes and hospitals


    We will rely on grant support and grants are not easily available


    We are establishing a web site and we will post progress there

    Our Centre is in Bargoed a former mining town in the Rhymney Valley and serves a number of surrounding towns and villages which are some of the most deprived wards in Wales


    The elderly of the area plus youngsters who volunteer to help at our centre
