Success will be assisting 100 learning disabled adults new and enduring measurable skills to enhance their lives and help them enjoy greatewr independence.
It will teach skills which a learning disabled person can draw on for the rest of their life such as the ability to read which will help them with reading their mail, enjoying a book or knowing what the signs around them at the shops say.
People will be able to use a computer to explore the world through the internet.
They will be able to shop for themselves and to make meals unaided.
Success will be measured by self-assessment and by observation of learned skills being put into practice.
The greatest risks are issues of safeguarding. we take the safeguarding of vulnerable adults very seriously. Staff and volunteers are all CRB checked and receive training in health and safety issues. we teach the beneficiaries basic health and safety and all staff are qualified adult education Tutors.
Risk assessments are carried out for each activity we do and we liaise closely with carers regarding any risky behaviours or situations.
We will provide a written report on completion of the project and a mid-project progress update. Donors can follow our news and progress on Twitter on a regular basis.
