Addressing Digital inequalities of older people
We want to help older people/carers to learn how to use basic IT/ internet to overcome social isolation and help them access their rights, much of which is now on line. This will have lasting benefits in the quality of their lives and empower them.

Our clientss face extreme hardship as elderly people, as disabled people, as Carers, as migrants/refugees with low levels of English, as women and as residents of deprived areas of West London. Many of them have never had the opportunity to access/learn about computers, how to use the internet,etc.
Our project will provide a safe and supportive learning environment for them as many subsist on low income which has resulted them to be excluded from the digital /communication revolution.
* essential knowledge/understanding & confidence about using basic use of computer, Internet & Emails.
* Increased ability to browse the Internet/use Emails for communication, accessing statutory provision & learning about other practical uses such as shopping on line, banking, using price comparison websites to reduce energy bills, etc,
* practical advice & 1-2-1 help in further Digital learning.
* communicate with friends/relations to reduce isolation
Addressing digital inequalities experienced by Armenian older people/Carers
Activities» Organise weekly basic IT classes lasting 3 hours each in our community centre. (45 sessions in total benefiting 12 learners each time)
Success will be measured by the number of them learning/using IT/Internet/new social media regularly once they be taught/supported
Overcoming digital inequalities within society is a major problem. Our project seeks to empower older people/Carers in order for them to break the cycle of dependency and reliance on others to access the internet/new social media.
There is no risks because we are a UK on Line centre with the experience of organising such training. We therefore have the premises, IT equipment/10 laptops, people, partners and experience in delivering the proposed project
We produce annual reports/audited accounts as we are membership based user led charity.
We publish newsletter, have our own website/facebook page and operate in a transparent manner.
We will take photographes from events and carry out user feedback survey for evaluation/reporting.

The project/IT classes will take place in our community centre at 105a Mill Hill Road, Acton, W3 8JF, London. The venue is fully accessible and near public transport. The premises are risked assessed annually . All portable appliances are tested annually. We have trained first aiders in the premises always. The venue has suitable with sufficient numbers of tables/chairs and a kitchen.
Armenians are a dispersed people who have arrived to UK from various troubled parts of the Middle East and former Soviet Union. There are approximately 20,000 Armenians in London today living mainly in West London. The project is an important step in helping the most vulnerable/socially excluded older people/Carers to integrate.
CAIA is the main focus of support to London's 20,000 Armenians for over 25 years. Our aims are to improve their quality of life, increase living standards, and offer opportunities/access for better education/welfare for
elderly/disabled, carers, children, youth and refugees. Annually over 13,000 visitors benefit from our various activities services such as advice, library, health advocacy service, elders lunch club,etc. We have an excellent tract record of delivering services.
