To be ale to further research and add to the existing digital archive. To continue with the development of the new website and to enable the history group to be able to meet on a weekly basis. The history of the area is of great social importance and can only be made available through the hard work of this local history group
Funding will solve all of these issues by paying for room hire, website costs and the general running costs. The existing members already give several hour of their time each week to achieve this goal and it would be very unfair if these dedicated people also have to pay for the privilege.
The history /archiving group to continue meeting on a weekly basis
Activities» Provide a suitable room once a week for a further 3 years
Success will be achieved by further developing the website and adding more images and information
By recording the numbers of additional items within the archive, by recording the number of attendances at the meetings and public events. By recording the numbers of website visits. The more history that can be recoded and available can only contribute greatly to local children's knowledge of the area and also make available the images for our older local residents to reminisce about. This aspect also extensively assists with the well being of our older local residents.
The website hosting company could stop trading - this is partiallly solved by backing up all records.
Lack of new material - this would be promted in teh local press to attract new donors.
History grop members passing away. this is more difficlut to solve as they have the much needed local history information.
Newsletters and yearly reports by email.

Gorleston. Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. There is a wealth of history with the very large and historic Shrublands Youth and Adult Centre, which also houses a grade 2 listed building. This now multi user site was a very successful social experiment that started in 1949 and mixed up to 85,000 adults and youths in a social and educational environment each year. The 2 local housing estates have a history of being the largest prefab house estate in the country and also the largest council house estate.
Past members of the centre, past and current residents of the 2 housing estates, local youths with an interest of the local history. Adults living both locally, away and abroad who have an interest in the area. Also the senior citizens who contribute to the archive have continually stated that the exiting project that is coming to a close (funding wise), weekly visits have given then all a new lease of life with a purpose. It would be really sad if this has to end.
We currently have just over 4 years very successful experience in developing the history group, building the massive archive and getting to position we are now at. By further extending the life of the project with experienced and the extensive knowledge of the area by this group makes sense as starting again from fresh is not really an option that could be considered.
