Help 4 Forgotten Allies
We are raising money to give Karen veterans from the Second World War who live in refugee camps on the Thai Burma Border small annual grants.
June 2012 - June 2013
Charity information: Projects To Support Refugees From Burma
Poverty and the disrespect of neglecting men who fought for our freedom in World War Two but have received no pensions.
This project recognises the sacrifice that they made in the Burma Campaign and give them the self respect they deserve to have.
To be able to give them their annual grant.
Activities» Continue to stay in contact with the 111 men and widows who remain alive and to report to organisations who have contributed and plan to do so again.
Success will be demonstrated through reports and a visit to meet with them in January 2013
The small amount of money allows these now very elderly people to buy food to supplement their diet of beans and rice in the refugee camp and medicines.
We depend on a group of people to distribute the grant money. These people have proved very dependable over the last 15 years.
I send on facts and figures given to me by the distributors of the grant money and those I learn on my visit, directly from the veterans and widows.
