Artists for Gypsy, Roma & Traveller History Month.
We are looking to fund various Gypsy, Roma & Traveller artists to perform fun workshops for visitors to the GRT History Month. The areas of artistic work would be in music, dance, storytelling, visual & performance arts. Visitors will get to see the creative and diverse culture of the community.
June 2012 - July 2012
The Romani Cultural and Arts Company
Generate awareness and break down social prejudices between Gypsies and non-Gypsy communities.
Engaging both communities to come together in a mutual interest in arts based activities. Showcasing Gypsy traditions and culture rarely seen outside the community. Encouraging multi-cultural participation to break down barriers.
Generate a greater awareness of the performance skills and rich culture of Gypsies.
Activities» Run several workshops at the GRT History Month event to demonstrate skills and encourage participation in the Arts through fun activities
Success will be measured during the event by interacting with visitors on their experiences and gathering their thoughts on the workshops.
The long term success will be to reduce prejudice, develop equality, change opinions and challenge presumed ideas about the Gypsy, Roma & Traveller community.
Without funding, we will be unable to pay expenses and costs to the artists. The risk would be that we could not provide these interactive workshops to the visitors and families that come to the event.
Details of the workshops will be displayed on the Charities web site with photographs and details of the event.
