Cerebra's Innovation Centre

Cerebra’s Innovation Centre is a research & design service that helps parents and carers find specialist equipment & adaptations not already available to buy on the open market. The Innovation Centre is made up of a small team of engineers & designers who are able to make almost anything needed.

  • Need


    Brain related conditions can mean specific equipment or mobility aids are needed to ensure children can participate as fully as possible in social & school activities. The main aim of the Innovation Centre is to produce functional yet aesthetically pleasing products that help.


    The Innovation Centre work with individual families to solve problems. Items of equipment are designed according to the needs and abilities of the child.

    To enable children to make choices about their life & participate fully in society.

    Success will be... an improvement in the participation in society of each individual child supported through this project.

    To help children be comfortable in their world, to enjoy life and be happy.

  • Impact


    Long term changes will be full integration and social inclusion which over time builds up friendships and raises self-esteem.


    Safety standards are the biggest risk. The Innovation Centre works with a range of industry partners and other charities to ensure products are tested to the highest standard.


    Feedback is sought from all projects, this is then passed back to donors in the form of a report or update at mid year/ year end as required.

    Cerebra is a national charity based in South West Wales. The Innovation Centre is located in Swansea Metropolitan University. The Innovation Centre work with families across the UK.


    Children and young people across the UK with brain related conditions. Conditions such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, learning difficulties, attention deficit, behavioural and emotional problems or developmental delay.
