Chancepixies Needs a Home
To purchase a property from which the charity can continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs and other animals in need of care and attention due to neglect or abandonment.
May 2011 - May 2016
Chancepixies Animal Rescue
Healthy comapnionable animals are being killed every day because there are not enough homes or rescue spaces.
If we can secure a property we can save up to 260 dogs a year from being needlessly destroyed, and if the right property was found, we could also save other animals from rabbits and cats to horses and goats..
To secure a property for the charity and so secure the future of dogs in the UK
Activities» Research suitable properties that have the scope for expansion into other animals other than dogs
» Raise the necessary finance to enable this to happen including writing to trust funds and individual donors
Success will be...a property owned by the charity through which they can imediately start to rescue and re-home upto 260 dogs a year.
The project will reduce the amount of dogs needlessly killed due to a lack of rescue spaces. This will be demonstrated by the amount of dogs that we are able to take in and re-home every year that would otherwise have been killed and we would not have been able to offer space to without the property. We will also look to expand our rescue services into other animals, success will be defined by having rescued other species by year 3.
There is a risk that the ear-marked property is no longer available when the necessary finances have been raised. We have dealt with this risk by having a close working relationship with the property owner and also being aware of other suitable properties coming onto the market.
Funders of this project will recieve a monthly newsletter of the charities work and also updates when more support is added to the project or any necessary changes that have been made to the project plans.

The current property ear-marked is located in West Hougham and has been a kennels since the 1950's. It has easy access from the M20 and M2 motorways. Already estabilshed as the base for Chancepixies, it has 28 kennels and can be licensed for up to 40 dogs at any one time. It has also in the past been an animal farm so the scope is there to expand into other animals with the land and outbuildings.
The biggest beneficiaries would be the animals themselves, we would also be able to open the facilities up to groups of people, of all ages, interested in taking part in activities with their dogs, from agility to fly ball or even canix. We have also been looking into the possibility of opening it up into a health testing centre for dogs. It could also be used as an excellent base for education with the facilities to run seminars and conferences in responsible ownership and breeding practices.
We have re-homed around 1,000 dogs and re-united 800 since 2005 and there is a real need for rescue centres to help deal with the continuing demand for rescue spaces.
