  • Need

    Need

The Arts are fundamental to our humanity, and yet many people are not offered the opportunity to engage in the Arts.

    Solution

La Folia uses performing arts to help people develop confidence, independence and a sense of achievement which enables them to develop in other areas, including life skills.

Artistic creativity helps the brain to retain information and to experiment. Being able to play with stories and create music is fun, as well as being therapeutic. When led in the right direction, artistic creativity can lead to stronger communities and a better sense of well-being.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To reach out to people in need and offer the opportunity to be part of a creative project.

    Activities

» We will continue to engage with people in need and create artistic projects with them.

Success will be the continued existence of creative projects and having involved at least 300 people in the process.

  • Impact

    Impact

The projects will develop the confidence and self-esteem of those who encounter them. This has already been demonstrated in the past; children have entered special needs schools from mainstream schools feeling angry, introverted and frustrated and through the La Folia work they developed their confidence and self-esteem.

    Risk

    1) Failure to find schools and/or communities willing to take part: actively promoting our projects eg through word of mouth and at performances
    2) Artistic team members falling ill and unable to lead projects: suitable alternative artistic leaders to recover this problem if and when it arises
    3) Lack of enough financial support which could lead to downsized projects: active fundraising

    Reporting

We send project reports to funders following the project.
