Charity information: FREEDOM FROM TORTURE
At Freedom from Torture we never want to be in a position where we are turning people away who need us. Our independence from government funding has always been an important part of who we are. Being able to rely upon the continued generosity of individual supporters has meant our doors have stayed open while others close, but the need for our services is increasing as we try to fill some of the gaps left by these recent closures.
Our treatment centres are in desperate need of funds in order to continue their vital work. We have five centres across the UK where we offer psychiatry, clinical psychology, psychotherapy, counselling, complementary therapies and support with housing and welfare.
To fund one of our five treatment centres so that survivors of torture have somewhere to turn.
Activities» Our treatment centres provide practical and psychological support.
What success will look like
Success will be...working with survivors of torture so they can come to terms with their past, restore their faith in humanity and begin to rebuild their lives.
We also speak out alongside survivors to raise awareness and influence decision makers.
Regular detailed updates from frontline staff, citing cases of survivors who have benefited from Freedom from Torture's treatment centres.
