Ntunga Health Centre, Mwulire, Rwanda
To build a health centre in Ntunga, Mwulire Sector, Rwanda. There is a population of almost 19,000 with no health care in the sector. These people have to walk up to 25 miles for any kind of care. The cost of the whole centre is £365,000. We are starting a Maternity Unit cost £26,500.

Lack of Health care and to prevent deaths. Mwulire Sector is located in the district of Rwamagana and supports a population of 18,939 people. In this sector there is not any kind of medical/health centre or hospital. Residents of this sector currently walk about 25 miles for medical aid. In general the area is impoverished and the population has little or no employment. There is no transport service.
The building of a Health Centre will provide medical care for the population in the County Town, Ntunga. The Centre will be staffed by the Ministry of Health and will offer care to the population. The first stage in the Maternity Block which will also offer paediatric care.

Activities» Plans are made and the building site is available with access to water and electricity.
Success will be seeing the mothers and children receiving medical care at the centre, knowing that they have been involved in the planning and building.
To complete the whole Health Centre
Activities» On completion of the Maternity Unit we shall build on a block by block basis until the whole centre is finished.
Success will be the completion of the Centre and the whole population have access to medical care.
In the long term, the health centre will educate the population in nutrition, health care and home management. They will also have access to medical care, surgery and medicines. The success of the Centre will be demonstrated by an improvement in the general standard of the health of the territory.
The main risk is in the building programme. There are different ways this is being dealt with:
1. A project manager and team with experience of this type of building is on board in England.
2. The Local Authority are sited locally and will be involved in the development.
3. Overseeing checks are to be made by local Rotarians.
Progress reports will be e-mailed or mailed to donors on a regular basis. Financial information will also be available and the charity web site will be kept updated.

Ntunga is a village in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. It is the “county capital” of Mwulire, where the local authority is based.
Mwulire Sector is located in the district of Rwamagana (Eastern Province) and supports a population of 18,939 people. Ntunga is a village in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. . In general the area is impoverished and the population has little or no employment. Engalynx is the only charity working in this territory. The Local Authority is keen to work alongside us to improve the lives of the population who will all benefit from the Centre.
Because we are a small, independent charity who carries out projects brought to us by the local people. We are the only one to go out to this area with some very remote places. We work with the local population and bring in the expertise we shall need.
