Respite holidays for disabled people and carers
Revitalise is the UK's largest provider of respite holidays for disabled people and their carers, providing almost 5,000 weeks of holidays each year, with 24 hr nurse-led care provided as standard. However we know there are thousands more people in desperate need of a break, who cannot afford one.
Revitalise is open all year round, and our support funding is available at any time.
Charity information: Revitalise
Disabled people and carers can find it very difficult to access a proper respite break that supports their often very individual needs. The reassurance of 24 hour nurse-led care is provided as standard at all three of Revitalise's fully accessible holiday centres in the UK, enabling our guests to experience a proper holiday, recharge, spend quality time, and go home with new strength. Respite is vital to sustaining healthy relationships for our guests and their carers.
Revitalise breaks are provided at cost, but this is still difficult or impossible for some disabled people to afford. Our project will generate income to be used as hardship funding for guests who need some help to meet the cost, and will be focused on people within 50 miles of our holiday centres in Chigwell in Essex, Southampton and Southport.
To offer holidays with nurse-led care for all disabled people who need them, regardless of cost.
Activities» Revitalise caters for over 150 different disabilities, and provides hardship funding of its own, but needs to raise more to meet the growing demand.
What success will look like
We will provide more hardship grants and reach more disabled people in desperate need of a break, giving them a well earned holiday.
To enable carers to have a break from their care role, giving them strength to carry on.
Activities» Carers are welcome to join us on a break while we take on the care responsibilities, or stay and rest at home while their loved one has a holiday.
What success will look like
By providing more breaks and more hardship funding, more carers will get the break they need, and the strength to carry on their vital work.
Providing respite holidays means that carer relationships are sustained, which reduces pressure on other support services. We also aim to demonstrate that disabled people do not have to lower their holiday expectations, and can enjoy inspiring holiday experiences of their own. Our holidays help our society to be more diverse, and more inclusive. We are carrying out our own independent research on the benefits of respite, and use guest feedback to monitor the quality of our services.
As an organisation, we cover our operating costs separately, so there is no risk of not being able to provide a service to our guests. The main risk that we can identify is that should there be a low return on this project, we would not be able to provide funding to as many people as we would like to.
We are able to mitigate this risk by having a broad existing range of other fundraising income streams through which we can source funding for our hardship funds.
Revitalise communicates through a variety of different channels, including regular newsletters, targeted emails, and through our digital media, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and our own website.
We would make good use of this mixed media in order to communicate with our donors.

Amount Heading Description £5,000 Revitalise Support Fund Providing hardship funding to help disabled guests and carers take essential respite holidays
Revitalise has three fully accessible centres around the UK. Revitalise Jubilee Lodge in Essex, Revitalise Sandpipers in Southport and Revitalise Netley Waterside in Southampton.
Disabled People, Carers and Young People
Revitalise is the only charity providing respite care for disabled people and carers in a holiday setting, doing what we do to scale. We are the only charity who are trying to achieve national coverage and our research shows that our guests not only come from the locality of our centres but from all over the UK.
We have seen demand for our services grow substantially, and as part of our long-term strategy we want to double our impact with the opening of three new centres.
