    To sustainable develop a multifunctional cultural and learning resource that will secure the future of the building
    To secure for posterity the ‘story’ of the chapel building, the congregation and nonconformity for the benefit of current and future generations.

    » a. To establish a new use for this building to return it to and secure its place at the heart of social and cultural life of Maesteg and Wales

    Provide educational, social and cultural opportunities to local residents, visitors, schools, businesses and voluntary groups

    To sustainable develop a multifunctional cultural and learning resource that will secure the future of the building
    To secure for posterity the ‘story’ of the most iconic building type in Wales: The Chapel,
    Illustrate the story of Nonconformity and its role and influence on chapel building, and the religious, social, industrial and cultural development of Wales; over 6000 chapels built over 400years to secure an example for posterity.

    Risk

    If we are unable to raise the capital to restore the building could be lost for ever. We are currently looking to the Heritage Lottery Fund and other funders to secure the money to fully restore

    We will give regular updates, before and after photographs and through the Addoldai Cymru facebook.

    Beneficiaries

    Maesteg, Llynfi Valley is an ex mining town in the South Wales Valleys. It has suffered as most valleys with a loss of employment associated with pit closures. It is a close knit community with a strong cultural identity.

    Why Us?

    We are a small Trust dedicated to protect examples of Welsh Chapels across Wales we currently have six chapels within our care. We have the skills and experience across the Trustees within the architectural, historian and associated fields.We work closely with the Royal Commission Historic Monuments Wales for technical support.
