Charity information: YMCA North Tyneside
There are a little or no facilities which cater for the potential beneficiaries during the dark winter evenings and / or bad weather, as almost all skate parks are outdoors.
To quote form North Tyneside's Children and young Peoples plan "every survey completed with children and young people in recent years highlighted things to do and places to go to be their number one issue.
Young People are the streets to socialise which can be seen and sometimes is anti social behaviour.
We will provide a safe, secure and inviting building which will allow young people to be involved in planning, delivering and evaluating a range of activities of their choosing. The facility will be open 7 days a week all the year round.

Changes in trends / needs of young people.
We will closely involve young people at all levels of the project and adapt the provision to suit changing needs. Through this we aim to stay ahead of the game and be seen as a lead in new trends.
We will use established monitoring and evaluation procedures to track and record outputs and outcomes. We will use case histories, personal stories, in various formats - written, photos, video to show the difference made and impact on the beneficiaries and community.

We are located in the Town centre of North Shields, close to the Metro rail link and bus terminus. We will undertake outreach activities with schools and churches and other community settings.
There has been recent front page stories in the local papers regarding the lack of facilities for young people in the local authority of North Tyneside. here are a number of outdoor skate parks in the area which are well used but are unsupervised and hence provide no pastoral care or direction to users.
Prime beneficiaries will be existing outdoor skate park users who will be able to participate all the year round in a safe environment.
New users will be attracted by the large range of activities on offer.
Schools and churches will offer additional facilities on their sites.
Society will benefit as young people engage in positive activities, supporting each other rather than socialising on the streets and creating the perception of anti social behaviour.
We have been provide services to the local community since 1879 and have built up a strong reputation for providing facilities which enable individuals to belong, contribute and thrive. We have space within our existing building to accommodate this project. We have delivered a successful outreach mobile skate park facility for the past 18 months through which we have established excellent links with the local skateboard community. We have also delivered ad hoc graffiti art and dance programmes
