Christmas at St Francis
We want to raise £80,000 to pay for the running costs of the Hospice over the Christmas and New Year period
December 2011 - January 2012
Charity information: The Hospice of St Francis
Christmas can be a hard time for families caring for a loved one who has a terminal illness. For many of the families we care for, this Christmas may be their last together.
We try to make sure as many of our patients are able to spend Christmas at home, often under the care of one of our Homecare nurses. For those patients who are too ill be at home, we make sure we do everything we can to make Christmas at the Hospice a special time. There is a tree, carols, Christmas dinner for the whole family, stockings for children and more. Our team are here whatever the weather to look after our patients and make this the best Christmas possible under difficult circumstances
Provide a memorable and stress-free Christmas for all patients and families under our care
Activities» Through our Inpatient Unit, Day Therapy Centre and our Homecare service we will make sure every family we look after has the best Christmas possible.
What success will look like
Success will be the whole family enjoying Christmas and New Year in the most stress-free and peaceful way possible
The long term impact of our project will be the memories of Christmas we are able to provide for the whole family at what is a very difficult time.
The main risks to a successful Christmas at St Francis is the weather! In the previous two winters, we have almost been cut off by bad weather and snow, yet our nurses have always been able to get to the Hospice and will stay overnight if travel conditions are too dangerous. Our chef and his team also stay on site to make sure hot food is available to all patients and families
We will report back to donors who contribute to our appeal via the Big Give, with appropriate case studies and quotes from patients and families. We will also feature our care over Christmas in our Newsletter to all supporters.
