  • Need

Increased enthusiasm for Maths within the curriculum. Directing young people to succeed in this area to focus their attention and then hopefully be able to offer greater employment opportunities in the future with these skills.

Offer an addition to the usual curriculum within schools, gain enthusiasm from young people by the idea of maths through a competition

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Gain enthusiasm for the subject of maths

» Maths marathon for Yr 5 (9-10yr olds)
» Maths marathon for Yr 7 (11-12yr olds)

    What success will look like

Success will be measured in the number of returned maths marathon booklets received.

  • Impact

Increased interest in maths will maybe only show itself in 10 years time when the number of students opting for subjects and occupations in STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) subjects has increased. National statistics should illustrate reduced number of vacancies in these areas

Our charitable organisation not having the funds to promote this initiative in schools, or print booklets & give prizes and the schools not having sufficient funds to participate in Education Business Partnership activities. We support the schools with annual membership and offering continued guidance and support

Donors could be present at the Maths Marathon finals, we could email or meet to discuss the progress of the competition. We would work with the donor based on their location as to the most convenient method of reporting and if the donor had any deadlines for reporting on budgets spent.
