Chinese Dance for Health
We want more people from disadvantaged areas of Manchester including the big housing estates to benefit from accessing low cost and high quality Chinese movement, exercise and dance classes as possible. Please donate to us so we can reduce the cost of our classes to participants.
This is an ongoing annual project.
Charity information: Manchester Lishi Arts
The Active People Survey demonstrates that too many people in Manchester do not meet recommended levels of physical activity. This combined with not eating correctly is resulting in increased obesity levels and associated health problems such as Type 2 diabetes on the rise (Diabetes UK). There is also a lack of activities available for young people to do in many locations of Manchester.
This project aims to develop, promote and deliver more classes for Manchester people to attend in the community. Manchester Lishi Arts engages with local authorities, community groups and local health agencies to ensure the group will partner other local strategies and joined up thinking. Lishi movement and dance from China provides an alternate approach to the usual mainstream services.
To get more people from Manchester engaged and participating in Weihai Lishi Quanfa.
Activities» New classes, better promotion, qualified teachers and providing an altogether excellent experience for new beginners.
What success will look like
Success will be... lots more classes filled with people participating in Chinese movement and dance!
External evaluation has demonstrate that participation in our classes leads to other learning and personal outcomes for people attending. We often use questionnaires (Survey Monkey) and feedback on social media sites (Facebook) to evaluate this. Improved creativity, ability to self assess circumstances, improved relationships, enjoyment of learning - all have a positive impact on the participants community, friends and family for example. It also has a direct impact on 'behaviours'.
The most important risks relate to the health and safety of people accessing our services. Our Child Protection Policy and Procedures follow those from our National Governing Body (EMDP) with Enhanced CRB checks, risk assessments etc in place.
Donors who wish to be contacted will receive a copy of our Trustees Annual Report. We will gladly provide updates on any specific project they have donated to through newsletters, our website and social media sites and by personal correspondence if required. We will demonstrate value for money.

Manchester Lishi Arts has been running health related Lishi projects for young people and young adults since the 1990s with funding from Awards for All and others. The teachers for Manchester Lishi Arts are very experienced and qualified.
