  • Need

The need for a new Team Oasis activity centre is reflected in the fact that when we established the Charity we had eight children attending. Presently we have over 500 hundred children attending each week. This number increases each week and when you consider that the only week that we are not open is actually Christmas week then you can understand just how much our activities mean to so many families. In addition, we only have a two year lease on our existing premises.

This new facility will provide the quality of centre that we all should have access to regardless of background, circumstance or ability to pay. Team Oasis shall ensure that our new Paradise Centre affords our community the sort of quality facility that this talented, gifted and very much diverse population deserves.

  • Impact

Our Community of Toxteth is listed on all national indices as of the highest category of deprivation. All manner of social and economic distress hangs over this community. However we can confidently say that this most diverse and cultural community has the most immense potential if given the opportunity.
It is the intention of Team Oasis to strive to ensure that this community is given the opportunity to fully realise its potential.
This project shall be a major catalyst in this process.

With any capital project, there are obviously risks. However, we see the major risk for the success of this project to be if we did not have sufficient planning. A strong strategic plan developed through forensic planning at each stage should ensure a successful project.

We shall report to donors in whichever communication medium is their preference. We shall also encourage site visits at every juncture.

  • Background

The location of our new centre will be in South Liverpool. There are a number of sites currently being considered including an 8 acre site. The Oasis Paradise centre will serve the children, young people, families and Schools in some of the UKs most deprived communities.

The majority of people served by this project live in Liverpool 8. The United Kingdom Poverty Index has Dingle listed as 215 whilst the United Kingdom Multi Index has Dingle listed as 219. Other areas of Toxteth have an even greater need than Dingle, particularly the Granby ward and their status is reflected with a higher listing in both indices. This recognises the serious issues that abound in our community and the need to take action to relieve the consequences of such deprivation.
