Clwyd Special Riding Centre
Many Equestrian Para Olympians started their competitive careers at this event. The decline in grant providers covering transportation and accommodation costs is causing the problem of not being able to attend this important event in the future. The Clwyd Special Riding Centre and the Regional support from the Riding for the Disabled are finding funding more and more difficult to source. As a none for profit organisation we try to provide every possible outlet for our 200 riders each week.
The Clwyd Special Riding Centre and the North Wales Riding for the Disabled Region will coach up to 30 riders to attend the qualifying rounds and on to the Championships of the Riding for the Disabled Dressage and Countryside Challenge competitions. Provide transport of up to 8 horses and their keep for 3 days and provide transport and accommodation for the riders, coaches and carerers.
To coach riders for the Regional Dressage and Countryside Challenge Competitions
Activities» Plan & deliver a series of coaching sessions aimed at dressage tests. Build a Countryside Challenge Course, plan & deliver coaching sessions
Success will be to compete at the Regional Qualifier and qualify for the National Championships of the Dressage and Countryside Challenge competitions.
Travel to National Championships, Gloucestershire, accomodating 8 horses, riders, coaches & helpers
Activities» To compete at this level for our disabled riders creates, self esteem, a sense of achievement and independence that is so often missing in their lives
Success will be to travel to the National Championships, Gloucestershire, accommodating 8 horses, up to 30 riders, their coaches & their helpers. To achieve a place in any class
The long term affects of attending competitions such as these are numerous and affect each rider, their coaches & helpers in different ways. For some this will be the start of a long sporting career that can lead them to Para Olympian status. For others the personnel achievement of being there, after a years work, is in its self a mountain they have climbed. The coaches develop their skills & are in a position to coach young coaches and pass on the knowledge they have gained from the experience
There is a risk that due to our riders physical conditions they may have to pull out of competitions at various points. We are looking at a squad of up to 30 riders to enable us to have substitute. This can only be up to the qualifying stage as once a place has been secured it is that riders name to go forward to competition.
Our website has an events page where all our activities are recorded. The Centre issues a twice yearly news letter which is sent out to all our major donors.
