Christmas Gifts Campaign
Every year we send out a Christmas Gift catalogue to our supporters so that they can choose presents from their loved ones to give to the children of Guatemala.
These gifts will transform their lives and give them a positive start to the new year.
October 2011 - February 2012
Education for the Children Foundation
Our children struggle for even the bare necessities in life and would often go without food and medicine if it wasn't for the life lines that our supporters provide them with.
This Christmas we want to ensure that these desperately poor children have everything they need for a promising start to the new year.
We enable our supporters to choose presents for their loved ones at home in the form of donations that buy our children vital gifts from family food hampers to sticking plasters and medical supplies, text books and learning materials for every child for the new school year and extra support for our most vulnerable families.
To make sure no child or family goes hungry this Christmas
Activities» Giving gifts i.e., family food hampers for during the festive season and enough nutritious food for a every child in our school for the start of 2012
Success will be giving every family a food hamper that needs one and ensuring that our school kitchen is well stocked with enough food for every child for the start of 2012
To ensure that our children are fit and healthy and strong enough to come back to school in 2012
Activities» Giving gifts from toothpaste and brushes to sticking plasters and medical supplies to ensure the kids are fit and healthy for the new school year
Success will be 525 happy and healthy children who are in a good position to take advantage of the education that is being provided for them
To ensure the kids have everything they need for a positive start to the new year
Activities» Give gifts like text books for the new school year and covering the cost of bus fares so that children can get to and from school safely
Success will be a bodega full of school supplies and learning materials and seeing the huge smiles on the children's faces when they're given their new school books for the year
By taking care of these basic needs we can ensure that the children are in the best possible position, in terms of health and welfare, to full advantage of the education that is being provided for them.
It is this additional social support that will enable them to learn and get a good education and with education, all things are possible.
We believe that in supporting these children and their families we give them the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty forever.
There are no risks involved except for a possible fluctuation in the exchange rate and rising food costs but we would try to cushion this with our core funds.
We personally give each child or family their gifts so we know exactly how the money is used and how big a difference it makes.

Our project is based in Guatemala, Central America. The area is surrounded by volcanoes (some of which are active) and lush jungle. Our school is in Jocotenango about ten miles from Antigua. Most of the families we support live on the steep hillside of Vista Hermosa which is prone to mudslides in the rainy season and can be very dangerous. Our families live in make-shift corrugated iron houses some with mud floors - some of which we have had to rebuild.
500 children and approximately 800 families
Because we've been supporting children in this area for eight years and have developed a trusting relationship with their families.
