Sustaining people’s ability to keep mobile to access work opportunities. When our beneficiaries lose their jobs they struggle to keep their contributions going on their moped loans resulting in economic hardship and for some, the loss of their bikes. This undermines their ability to seek and access gainful employment. We want to provide temporary financial support to keep people mobile so that they can secure another on asap, maintaining their economic and social well-being.
We would use the hardship fund to pay, temporarily, their moped contributions to enable them to survive of their JSA while job searching. This will help keep the people we support in a positive frame of mind and more able to job search and access new employment opportunities.
Set up a hardship fund.
Activities» Identify deserving cases to support by temporarily paying their moped contributions.
What success will look like
Success will be supporting up to 100 people keep mobile and access new work opportunities.
The project will close a gap in funding support and help motivate people to secure new work opportunities. We will demonstrate the success of this project by measuring how quickly people secure new work. We will continue to work closely with Jobcentre Plus offices to ensure an integrated approach where possible.
There is a risk people will take advantage of this support and not use the opportunity to actively seek new work. We will deal with this by working with Jobcentre Plus to ensure its supported job search activity benefits from the unemployed beneficiary keeping mobile.
Donors to this project would, if required, receive a monthly report on the number of people we are providing hardship fund support to and how many have new work.

We support people aged 16-60 plus across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire
Mostly unemployed people aged 16-60 plus, many who have no other means of support to keep them mobile to secure decent employment opportunities.
We are the only wheels to work scheme in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire and the only one that covers all of Suffolk and hence the only service able to offer this type of hardship fund support.
