    In Uganda, very few healthcare professionals can communicate with deaf people and hold detrimental beliefs about deafness. A recent community awareness survey conducted by SignHealth Uganda suggested that over one third of Ugandan people believe deafness is caused by witchcraft or the devil. in addition, 20% of trained medical workers and 23% of teachers also believe this to be true. Consequently, deaf people are denied access to healthcare and education and are living on the fringes of th

  • Impact


    This project sets out to combat the poor physical and mental health of the deaf community in rural Uganda.
