  • Need

    Need

The charity is raising funds to buy items that fall into a gap where the hospital cannot buy everything but is able to identify equipment and amenities that benefit patients and which this charity tries to afford. as such there is no one item that the charity is trying to buy but a continuous list of items that staff identify are needed to improve the quality of life for the patients.

    Solution

Our purchases benefit the patients much sooner than would be case if we didn't exist, eg recently we bought a Motomed Pedal that exercises the muscles of long stay patients for the Critical Care Unit; and a Digital Microscope System that enables the Haematology Department to analyse blood and body fluids in a safer, faster, more efficient and comfortable way, so freeing time for the staff to concentrate on the more difficult cases. These would not have been bought were it not for the Friends.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

to raise funds to achieve the above objects.

    Activities

» we will use donations, legacies, fundraising and deploy profits from a shop and a coffee bar, and from the sale of books and hobbies.

Success will be...knowing that patients are better catered for as a result of our purchases

  • Impact

    Impact

The Royal Marsden Hospital and its staff are better equipped to offer a higher standard of care to its patients

    Risk

Our volunteers contribute some 10,000 hours a year of their own time running the shop, coffee bar, trolley service, flower arranging, garden maintenance and a meet and greet service as well as supporting and marketing all the various fundraising activities. the Trustees take care to ensure that they attract as many people as possible to become Friends and provide the support and donations that make the objects of the charity possible.

    Reporting

All donations are gratefully acknowledged. If the donors become Friends, which we would hope they would do - there is a flexible subscription - they would receive a copy of our annual report and financial statements.
