To fund some hours so that we can develop a fundraising arm to our organisation. This will mean that we can generate money to run our services instead of relying on governenment funding. Ideas to raise money include delivering training, charity shops, race nights etc.

Women's Housing Action Group
The possible closure of our charity and therefore end of the services we deliver to vulnerable women. Out income comes from government funding and this has been cut dramatically with further cuts to come. We want to continue with the services we offer to women (outreach, accommodation, drop-ins) but we realise that we need to secure a different source of income to do this.
If we can raise money to pay for staff hours, these hours can be used for spefically looking at other ways to raise money. This can be by delivering training (for a profit), setting up charity shops, organising charity events and selling tickets. All this requires hard work and time, the money would provide payment for the time.
To generate an income so the charity can continue to provide services.
Activities» Set up a training arm, charity shop and charity events for profit. We will organise, promote and sell tickets for these events.
Success will be making money from the events/activities we organise.
Long term, we hope to build on the fundraising ideas we have and eventually offer our clients the opportunity to become involved in them ie. working in the charity shop or assisting with training.
Their success will be demonstrated by the continuation of our services with a reduction in funding from the council.
The risks would be that we set up different businesses with the intention of making a profit but then it doesn't happen.
We are addressing this by doing research about what types of businesses may be successful in different areas.
We will send them regular updates to inform them of any successes or difficulties we may have.

The locations will be Rochdale and Bury - these are the 2 towns that WHAG currently provides services. They are both areas that have experienced severe cuts in funding from local councils and also areas with social issues. Issues include domestic violence, debts, drug and alcohol misuse.
Vulnerable women in need of support sustaining their tenancy or fleeing domestic violence. We support women with children so local children will also benefit. Once our charity shops are up and running we hope to train volunteers to work in them - this will also benefit our clients.
We already run a lot of in-house training and so are aware what training other providers want and how much they may be willing to pay for it. We have a good knowledge of the local areas and where it may be profitable to open a charity shop. Also via our established networks we have a vast range of people to market our charitable events at with the aim of making a profit.
