Coming Home Campaign
to provide specially adapted homes for wounded heroes. 700 Service men and women have been seriously wounded in Afghanistan, 200 of them are now amputees. It is vitally important that, after the rehabilitation process, they have suitable housing and a platform for independence.

Charity information: Haig Housing Trust Coming Home
although wounded Service personnel receive some funds under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme - this is in recognition of 'pain and suffering'. The money has to last a lifetime and is NOT designated for adapted housing - they need to keep it to cover future eventualities. Most of those injured are barely out of their teens. Local authorites struggle to help as they may not have suitable accommodation for the specific medical needs or have housing in the location needed.
we currently have 50 people on our lists needing this specialist accommodation. By providing suitable housing tailored to their needs, these brave and heroic people have a solid and secure platform from which they can start to rebuild their lives - lives very different from what they had imagined before thier awful injuries.
to raise £20m to provide specially adapted homes for our wounded heroes
Activities» we have many potenatial fundraising activities to raise the funds to build, buy or rent the properties and then to adapt them
What success will look like
Success will be being able to provide housing for the current 50 beneficiaries in need of adapted housing and for future people coming through the rehabilitaion process.
Easy! Seriously injured Service and ex-Service people will have a home, tailored to meet thier specific medical and physical needs and their long term housing will be assured
any risks associated with shared ownership, for example,if the beneficiary is, for medical or other reasons unable to keep thier payments up, the Trust will take the property back into its administration and then rent it back to the person thereby still providing a stable home.
