  • Need

    Need

The community building is under threat due to a roof repair that is urgently required. This jeopardises the services that are run from the building.
Developing a link with schools and collaboration with school, business and young people will raise aspirations; provide positive role models and valuable experience for young people enhancing their curriculum with community links and activity. This will enhance their learning and engage a new generation of fundraising volunteers

    Solution

The amount raised will help to repair the roof and secure the service delivery.
The young people will take an active role in developing and marketing the project and will engage with a range of positive influences and shared learning through their participation. The project will include a series of workshops leading up to the donor week when the young people will be in the community supporting individuals with on-line donations

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Provide funds to repair the roof securing the services delivered to the community

    Activities

» Run 6 workshops for young people developing the marketing of the project and project managment of the renovation project
» Engage with businesses to work with young people to provide skills and expertise to support and mentor the young people in the project development
» Acredit the volunteering aspect of the young peoples involvement through the ASDAN Certificate in Personal Effectiveness

Success will be repairing and securing the services that support the south cumbria community and through successfully linking and acrediting the involvement of 20 young people

  • Impact

    Impact

The renovation will secure the services for a minimum of 10 years. The engagement with schools, business and young people will continue and develop fostering closer links and tracking progress and progression. Engagement in other projects and developing positive enrichment opportunities through volunteering and participation will be ongoing and increasing by 20% per year for the next 3 years

    Risk

Low engagement rates and pledges is a risk. We have dealt with this by linking with the community, business and school in the development of this project to ensure that we are best placed to maximise the opportunity

    Reporting

Donors will receive printed newsletter, electronic mailings and through the use of social media networking information about the ongoing activities on a monthly basis
