Patients Transport Appeal
After years of transporting patients around Tameside and Glossop, Ashton under Lyne based, Willow Wood Hospice has an urgent need to replace their ageing patients transport vehicle.
June 2011 - April 2013
Charity information: Willow Wood Hospice
Repairs to our existing 8 year old mini bus are no longer economical and patient access and lifting capabilities are totally inadequate. As we continue to expand services we have more patients in need of wheelchair access, currently we are only able to carry one wheelchair. Parts for the disabled access ramp are almost impossible to obtain as the unit is located under the rear floor and catches raised road ramps causing irrepairable damage and creates a very uncomfortable journey for patients.
As our services continue to expand we expect to have more patients with mobility difficulties and the purchase of a new reliable vehicle with improved access and medical onboard facilities will enable the Hospice cater for the needs of patients ensuring that those in need of our specialist care have access to that care with minimum disruption to their daily routine.
To raise the funds to purchase a new Hospice Patient Transport vehicle.
Activities» We lauched a local appeal to begin raising the required funding in June 2011 to raise £63K. To date we have raised 3/4 of the target
Success will be measured by the increased numbers of local people being able to access our specialist services without disruption to their daily routine
It is crucial that we have a reliable vehicle to transport our patients and now that our existing vehicle has begun to let us down it is important that as mobile medical facilities improve we need keep up with those improvements for the benefits of our patients.
There is a risk with the current economic climate potentially effecting donations but this is not expected to be an issue as we continue to enjoy loyal and on going support from the local communities
We communicate regularly to our donors through mailouts, newletters, our annual Reflection magazine and through the local media.
