Sobell House Hospice Ward Refurbishment

Sobell House Hospice provides care for patients in Oxfordshire with various life-limiting illnesses. We provide medical care, but also emotional and practical support to our patients and their families. Part of our ethos is to make the Hospice as comforable and homely as possible.

  • Need

Since the new Hospice opened in 2003, hundreds of patients have used the Ward. We try to make it as comforrable and as homely as possible. But we also need to take account of hygiene needs and heavy usage, so general wear and tear, plus the need for regular cleaning, often at high temperatures, takes its toll on certain furnishings. We also allow families to stay here as much as they like, and need to provide a comfortable environment for them too, including sleeping accommodation

We need to purchase some new fixtures and fittings for the rooms in our ward, including soft furnishings and specialist beds, but to ensure that they are attractive and comforting, as well as functional

  • Aims

    Aim 1

The aim of the project is to make the accommodation at the Hospice attractive and comfortable

» Source high quality and hard-wearing items of furniture and soft furnishings to up-date the look and facilities in the ward

Success for us wil be for patients and their families to feel at home, relaxed and comfortable, even at times of illness and stress

  • Impact

Hopefully by having the resources to purchase the best equipment possible for our needs, the environment for our patients and their families will continue to be comfortable for some time to come

There are no major risks anticipated, unless we are unable to secure sufficient funds to bring the project to fruition. We intend to make our supporters fully aware of the needs of this project in the hope that we can secure enough funding to make it possible

All donors to this project will receive notification that we have reached our target and then at the completion of the project we will write to everyone again with a description of the improvements we have been able to make, including pictures of the newly refurbished rooms

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Sobell House Hospice Charity Ltd provides over 40% of the total funding for the Hospice each year, but this money supports essential running costs. It is sometimes necessary to find money on top of this for extra projects to enhance the services we can provide
