Risk
The main risk is that we do not raise the funding needed to fit out the building. We have dealt with this by not committing ourselves to moving, by not signing a lease and by working in partnership with First Wessex ( a housing association) and the local borough council.
Reporting
We produce a regular Newsletter which donors would receive. We would also communicate progress regularly by email and would invite donors to visit the premises to see work in progress.

Background
Location
Aldershot has a population of approximately 34,000 and is in the north east of Hampshire. The Vine also attracts clients from neighbouring towns in both Hampshire and Surrey. The growth of the town dates back to the establishment of the army garrison in the 1850s. The population in general is lower skilled and there has been a rise in the number of people seeking Jobseeker's Allowance. 2 wards in the town have areas of multiple deprivation.
Beneficiaries
The main people to benefit will be the clients but there will also be benefits to the volunteers and the staff through working in better premises. There could be indirect benefits to the neighbouring population in that better services for the clients might see reduced re-offending rates and a reduction in drug and alcohol related crime.

Why Us?
Why Us?
The Vine started as a soup kitchen in 1987 and has developed gradually, but carefully, to its current position. It became a registered charity in 2003. It has a strong staff, an excellent team of volunteers and a committed and effective Board of Trustees. A move to newer and better premises would be the next logical step in its development.
