  • Need

Care facilities and equipment in constant use requires continued upgrading as new technology in care equipment and new pracices in care provision develop. Patients are presenting with more complex case histories due to an interlinked range of conditions, both physical and psychological. The problem is to ensure that the hospice provides the best possible care for all concerned.

The Quality Assurance Group undertakes regular reviews of aspects of hospice practice and an Audit Group looks at particular practices and procedures. This work highlights the need for new equipment and training for clincal staff which can then be resolved through appropriate executive action according to budget constraints.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Undertake regular reviews to assess needs of clinical care facilities and staff.

» Ensure regular meetings and communications

    What success will look like

Success will be ensuring that the reviews identify definite needs that can be met.

    Aim 2

Identify equipment and training required and make necessary arrangements to obtain these.

» Develop a list of equipment and training needs then undertake teh necessary purchasing procedures.

    What success will look like

Success will be purchasing and installing equipment and providing training for clainical staff.

  • Impact

Long term success will be demonstrated through feedback from patients and families.

There is a risk that equipment identified will be inadequate but this is dealt with by asking other hospices for their advice and working with tried and tested suppliers.

We will report by letter, newsletter and website.
