New Building Refurbishment

We have the chance to take over a community building that will enable us to offer more training & fun for our Sea Cadets. Our County Council has closed down all the local youth projects due to financial restraints meaning that there is more dependance on independant youth organisations.

  • Need

The building is sound but in desperate need of decoration, re-plastering in places due to ball games being played inside the building in the past, a few broken windows & we need to widen the access to part of the storage area to allow our rowing boats to be safetly stored. Some of this work will be undertaken by volunteers, some needs to be carried out by professionals. Funds are needed for their services as well as material costs

We have volunteers in place to do the work & quotations for the professional work. We need to start raising funds now. We are arranging jumbles sales etc but need a greater injection of cash. We expect a greater demand now that the outh club has closed meaning 60 more youths have no where to go locally.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Clean up, repair & redecorate building

» We have volunteers ready once funds are available. We need to recruit a couple more.
» Fund raising needs to be organised, jumble sale organised, bag pack at supermarket booked for October, car wash in July.

Success will be a clean bright area suitable for the cadets to undertake thier training & make the unit more inviting.

    Aim 2

Widen access to the storage area for rowing boats

» Again, we have volunteers to do this but need more funding. Tree surgeon will need to undertake some work too.

Success will be keeping all the equipment we have strived to aquire in a safe clean, dry environment

  • Impact

Long term, we will see more training delivered to a greater number of cadets aged between 10-18. This will be a legacy for many years to come

Our Sea Cadet unit was formed in 1982 & has a long record of success. This additional facility can only help our training efforts for these young people.

The Unit Managment Committee meets monthly, a report would be forwarded each month to any donors
