Foundation of Light delivers Kickz in four locations across the North East - Chester le-street, Peterlee, Seaburn North and Derwentside. All these areas have been identified by police and other authorities as areas with high crime rates, suffering from youth anti-social behaviour, criminal activities and substance misuse, resulting in above average policing costs and reduced community cohesion.
Young people aged between 13-19 will benefit thought taking part in the sessions and initiatives, increasing their knowledge, gaining accreditation and improving their behaviour. The wider community will benefit through reductions in youth anti social behaviour and criminal damage, and the public at large will benefit via reduced policing and legal costs.
Foundation of Light uses the power of the SAFC brand, and the enthusiasm young people in the region have for Football, to engage them in positive activities. Our charity has a track record of achieving great success running similar projects. Kickz programmes have been run by SAFC Foundation since 2007 and in 2009 we won the Community Club of the Year category at the national Kickz Awards recognising our effectiveness at engaging young people through these activities.
