Gmax Take it to the Max
GMAX Trackstars are looking to launch a new outside school hours program that provides a free diversionary service for children and young people in the London Boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich between the ages of 6 and 16 who maybe in danger of engaging in anti-social activities, Health issues etc.

Need
Need
The project will look to offer an alternative to the potential that exists for young people in Lewisham and Greenwich to be sucked in to engaging in anti social behaviour by offering positive, enjoyable activities that are relevant to people today, counter Childhood obesity rates and offer advice on living healthy lifestyles.
There are a number of ways we have identified a need for the project.
We have consulted with school sports partnerships & Police in Lewisham and GreenwichSolution
By helping young people become more active and healthy the project can also lead to an improvement in self confidence in participants and give them the belief to try and achieve things both inside and outside of school that they potentially did not feel able to do previously
and help deter young people away from drugs, drinking, solvent abuse and crime all of which can have a negative impact on their lives immediately and in the future supports the concept of stronger community -

by providing regular opportunities for young people engage in physical activity through athletics

» The sessions will help them learn new skills and get physically fitter. Engage them in regional competition to boost confidence and tolerance

Success will be...when sustainable access to recreation and physical activity in the norm. Collaborative action engaged to remove barriers to participation is in operation

Impact
Impact
This project aims for iconic branding, world-wide recognition and a long heritage of success to give local and national pride to participants. Put the “great” back into Great Britain through success in sport development
Risk
the risks we face is operating the project as a business the possibility of cash flow issues. The strategy to overcome this risks will be to progress our current project in setting up a fitness centre facility which will offer membership to the general public.

Location
Lewisham is located in inner south east London. 260,000 people live in Lewisham. Lewisham is a diverse borough, with a large black African / Caribbean population and 65 per cent of school pupils are from a minority ethnic background.
Beneficiaries
Lewisham is a relatively poor borough, although the poorer areas are concentrated These are also the areas with the largest public housing estates. Lone parent families make up 18 per cent of all households, which is the highest rate in London. Seven in ten people commute out of Lewisham to work. The health of people in Lewisham is generally worse than the England average.
