EDUCATION FIGHTS POVERTY
Helping children escape from poverty through education and training whilst in residential care. Working with NGOs in Tamil Nadu, South India and Thailand we aim to help each individual reach his/her full potential through the provision of quality education, vocational training and skill training.
Charity information: The Joe Homan Charity
Youngsters from backgrounds of poverty being denied an education and opportunity in life.
Each residential project has a strong community spirit, where the prime criteria for admission is poverty. The quality of schooling is constantly monitored and there is opportunity for further development through sports, music and other activities. Youngsters will gain recognised qualifications whilst acquiring skills that will enable them to lift themselves and their families out of relative poverty.
Offer residential care and education to needy children from backgrounds of poverty.
Activities» By supporting selected NGOs in south India and Thailand. Currently we have 400 youngsters in residential projects for whom we receive no income.
What success will look like
Success will be raising sufficient funds to fully support all residential children, currently in excess of 1,200 youngsters out of poverty into education and training.
Through financial support of selected NGOs we will help to take children out of family poverty and give them opportunities for education and training in developing countries.
We will demonstrate the success of these projects by local monitoring of projects and reporting individual cases to supporters of JHC. We will continue to work closely with these NGOs to track the progress of the students and will measure success through both student and NGO feedback.
There is risk that we will not be able to raise sufficient funds to continue our support of overseas NGOs in their work to give opportunities to many children currently in poverty and in need of quality education and training. We are dealing with this risk by fostering close relationships with our charity supporters and other donors.
Donors to the charity receive regular reports on overseas projects and individual children together with regular newsletters and website news.

The residential projects we support overseas are located in, Tamil Nadu South India and Isaan District NE Thailand. These are both areas of extreme poverty.
If JHC is able to raise ongoing and sufficient funds many hundreds of children will be offered quality education and training enabling them to become worthwhile citizens of their own nations helping to bring their families out of poverty and need.
JHC as a caring and sharing charity has successfully supported NGOs and thousands of children in the past 45 years. In that time we have developed sound relationships with the NGOs we support and together we contribute to the successes gained by those same children. We are a completely transparent charity offering youngsters many opportunities and our supporter’s loyalty.
