Prison Ministry at Kanater Prison, Cairo

Due to the revolution in Egypt the prison system has changed, allowing prisoners who had completed their sentence but were kept in prison due to inability to pay their release money to finally walk free. However, some foreigners cannot afford their air fare. We aim to raise £1,600 to fly 6 men home.

  • Need

    Need

The revolution in Egypt has brought about many changes. One affecting the Prison Ministry run by the Anglican Diocese of Egypt is a change to the prison system. In the past, prisoners who had competed their sentence had to remain in prison for 5 more years if they were unable to afford the large sum of money demanded by the authorities.
Six men who had served between 9-22 years in prison will now be released. They are free to return to their homes but are unable to afford their airfares home.

    Solution

We aim to raise £1,600 which will pay for the required six flights for the released prisoners so they can be reunited with their families in Nigeria and India.
