Need
Need
Following failed lease negotiations, CPA has to immediately relocate its offices. The unique library and information services are at risk of closure if this move cannot achieved speedily and with minumum disruption. The whole CPA information centre is currently at risk, with the consequent severe loss to the understanding, by government, policy makers, academics, students and health and social care professionals of the needs of the growing population of older people.
Solution
Funds raised for this project will cover the cost of moving and re-establishing the UK National Library of Ageing and the associated internet and print based information services in a new location.
-
Aims
Aim 1
Establish the UK National Library of Ageing in its new location
Activities
» Clear new location; Pack and transfer existing library and office materials to store temporarily in the new location.
» Lay out and set up the new location then re-establish the library and offices.
Success will be...
When the UK National Library of Ageing and the information services are up and running in their new location.
Aim 2
Transfer the Ageinfo and other internet and print based information services to the new location.
Activities
» Set up IT (internet) links and infrastructure
Success will be...
CPA and the UK National Library of Ageing has transferred to the new location without disruption of its online information services.
-
Impact
Impact
The relocation is necessary to ensure the long term continuance of the Centre for Policy on Ageing and the UK National Library of Ageing.
Risk
The main risk is that CPA will be unable to carry out the relocation in the time available. The library would then have to be transferred to temporary storage and temporary arangements made for the IT infrastructure risking disruption to the online information services.
Reporting
The project is short term so major donors would be informed of progress directly, twice per month and all other donors would be kept informed via the CPA web site.
