Isolation Unit to enable separation of sick animal
We need to convert unused pens in the puppy block into an isolation unit. This will enable us to isolate an animal with say, cat flu, or a dog with suspected Parvo virus. It is really necessary to keep these unfortunate animals completly separate from our healthy animals.
Charity information: RSPCA York and District
Keeping sick animals isolated from our healthy ones to prevent the spread of disease. At the moment we do our best but in the absence of a proper isolation unit it is very difficult. Kennel cough and cat flu can spread like wildfire through the Home. We hope to convert unused pens into an isolation unit.
By keeping sick animals completely separate from the healthy ones.
To separate sick and healthy animals completely.
Activities» By converting an existing building at present underused into an isolation unit.
What success will look like
Success will be...when animals with infectious diseases admitted to the Home do not pass their illness to our healthy animals.
By containment of infectious disease.
We can see no risks.

York Animal Home
York YO26 4RH
Sick animals will have suitable accommodation. A better environment for staff to work in. Healthy animals will be kept safe from cross infection.
We are a large though now somewhat dated animal home. Located centrally to the animals in York and District. The RSPCA is known as a front line charity for sick and injured animals. We struggle to cope with the many animals brought to us for care by the public. RSPCA York is self funding and receives no financial aid from Government.
