  • Need

    Need

Giving information to carers who are looking after someone living with dementia in a cafe setting without the stigma of the disease.

    Solution

Professionals attending will be able to answer questions whilst they enjoy a light lunch and socialise with others in the same position.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

enabling those living with dementia and their carers to gain information and advice

    Activities

» This will actively combat the stigma and lack of knowledge about dementia

Success will be...by the number of carers helped.

    Aim 2

To reduce isolation and improve the quality of life for both carer and cared for.

    Activities

» The cafe enables those living with dementia to make new friends and enjoy ordinary social life without the sigma.

Success will be...by the number of carers attending on a regular basis

  • Impact

    Impact

The long term affect is that carers are able to follow their caring role for longer which has a significant affect of the Social Care budget. This will be demonstrated by the number of carers wanting to use the service.

    Risk

Lack of uptake by people living with dementia and their carers. Have sent out mail shot to all our clients who have a diagnosis of dementia. Put posters in GP surgeries and Borough Council offices.

    Reporting

An annual report showing numbers of attendees and comments from the carers who use the service.
