  • Need

Addis Ababa has no sewage system except into rivers and streams. It also suffers floods in the Little and Great Rains. The health and environmental issues are great and need addressing.

The planning and scoping of this project will allow for a good understanding of not just volumes, but types and strenghs of waste that will need to be treated. This will both save time and money when it comes to the construction of the civil works.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Explore the waste waters of the capital and characterise the worst constituent parts.

» Outline a propsed sewage system and flood control mechanism. Carry this out with full consultation.

    What success will look like

Success will be... to produce the outline for the development of the sewage collection and treatment, and flood relief scheme coimplete and the buildind started.

  • Impact

Improve the 3.2 million residents' health and general environmental benifit.

The risks that attend this project are few, the only probles is the charaterisations being incomplete. The aid of the city's authority will help avoid this situation.
