  • Background

Doorway is located in Chippenham, Wiltshire.
Although largely a rural county, we still experience the same issues that are found in any large town or city in the UK.
Homelessness is often an invisible problem and unlike the big cities, rough sleepers are rarely seen.
Generally, homeless adults in rural areas have fewer options than those in cities where a large number of statutory and voluntary services are available.

The local community benefits from our services.
Chippenham's population alone was estimated, in 2007, at about 35,000 inhabitants.
North Wiltshire's population is approx 132,100
Doorway is the only specialist service in the homelessness sector in this area.
