How to tackle Redundancy in Later Life
To ensure we provide the best possible information and advice to people in later life who may face the possibility of being made redundant.
May 2011 - May 2014
Nottingham & District Pre-Retirement Council
We are trying to solve the possibility of older people facing redundancy and the fact that they need to get professional help to ensure they are supported through this difficult period.
By arranging a central venue point and day and to get experts to speak on how they are going to manage. We will arrange speakers from the local Job Centre and have volunteers to ease them through the minefield which they may experience.
The aim is to help people to come to terms with redundancy and to find ways of supporting them.
Activities» We will arrange a day's training and have Job Centre staff, DWP speakers, finance, budgeting, C.V. writing etc
Success will be...by ensuring older people are given the opportunity to attend one of our events as it will be arranged locally and easily accessible.
The long term changes will ensure that as soon as older people are made redundant, they have a life-life to hold on to by asking for help.
We will demonstrate our success by keeping a record of how people have adapted to this change in their lifestyle and provide speakers to help and support their needs. We will also provide literature, forms and everything they will need to get through this traumatic period.
The only risks we know is that we may not get enough people interested in attending our redundancy seminar. If this was the case, we would post pone the date and re-arrange a little later on in the year.
We would still be able to help people who have recently been made redundant.
Each person who attends the Redundancy Seminar would complete an Evaluation Form and report back on the quality of the event so that people are getting value for money.
