Broadcasting on AM

Radio Clatterbridge wants to broadcast on AM to reach parts of the Clatterbridge Health Park it has previously been unable to reach. The station needs extra funds to help with the installation of a new transmitter and creation of new programming to meet the needs of the whole site.

  • Need

Radio Clatterbridge has traditionally relayed its programmes via a system of land-lines to the main Clatterbridge Hospital site. However, those lines are now getting old and expensive to maintain. The lines do not reach some other parts of the Health Park site.

A new AM transmitter will not only remove the problem to maintain the existing land-line system but will also reach new areas within the health park. Patients at St John's Hospice and Claire House Children's Hospice will be among those who will benefit from our service for the first time.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To raise enough money to install an AM transmission system and help produce new programmes.

    » - Attract grants from health authorities. - A wide-range of fund-raising activities. - Seek sponsorship opportunities.

    What success will look like

Success will be being able to switch on the new transmitter and begin broadcasting new programmes to reflect our wider audience.

  • Impact

The project will reverse the decline in the quality of our transmissions to the patients. It will also expand our ability to reach a new audience - one which is currently overlooked and yet no less important than our existing listeners.

There are no risks attached with this project.

We will publicise our progress on our website at and in the local media.
