Training and qualifications
To keep up with the expert training we give to our young people we have to have a ongoing training programe which, not only, ncludes volunteers (uniform staff and committee) but also cadets. This would include D.O.E , BETEC, RYA and B.C.U and Marine Society in house training.
April 2011 - March 2012
BECCLES SEA & ROYAL MARINE CADETS
The Unit needs to keep up with training volunteers to be able to keep up the expert teaching of our young people, 10yr to 18yrs old. There is a lot of expense laid out by the staff to achieve the knowledge and with jobs being the first thought the cost of these courses can add a big burden to stretched finances. We are trying to help our volunteers with this expense and at the same time keep up the standards we offer cadets.
We would be able to give a help by paying for courses and travelling. The uniform staff would have their own budget for achieving qualifications. This must not only help volunteers not only in their teaching skills but in their pockets!
To creat a fund for training for volunteers and older cadets.
Activities» Set up a training fund overseen by uniform admin staff and topped up with future funding
Success will be shown by this fund being handed over to the uniform staff and then updates passed to the unit management committee
To ensure all our volunteers have an equal oppurtunity to gain skills and qualifications
Activities» We have already created a training programe and this is distributed to staff via monthly meeting held by the Commanding Officer
Success will be shown by constant updates of qualifications held and this will be recorded within the units personal forms
To ensure we continue to offer the very best in instuction and education we can to our young people
Activities» The unit has a training programe for the cadets and this is constanly updated. All qualifications are listed in their records.
Success will be the ongoing work books and qualification records. The cadets have to have discussions one a month with admin staff to check achievements.
The long term changes in creating this fund will mean there will be conformation of a successful training programe for volunteers both current and future staff to the unit. The success of this will be demostrated by the cadets themselves and what they go on to achieve in their lives eg careers and respected adults.
The abusing of the fund. This will be run by Admin staff overseen by the unit management committee who are all trustees of the Sea Cadets.
It would be our intention to produce a 6 monthly report of qualifications gained and what this has meant to the cadets based on their achievements. This would be overseen by the UMC and sent out to donors every 6 months.
