    Over the coming 2 years, our vision is to convert our Studio theatre in Earlsfield, south London into an outstanding, 100-seat, producing theatre with rehearsal and workshop facilities using to enable the sustained development of young and emerging artists within our Global vision.

    This landmark new theatre - being the first Asian-led theatre building in the country – will reflect Tara Arts’ East-West sensibility and will be built using sustainable systems and materials


    The transformation of Tara Arts is estimated to cost £500,000. Every pound you give helps realise this exciting new vision. You can:

    agree to make a donation when you buy a ticket;
    shop online through 15% of what you spend will come to Tara Arts;
    Become a TARAANGEL and take advantage of the Gift Aid Scheme to help yourself as well;
    Make a donation to the Building Fund through the Big Give.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    To transform Tara Studio into the first Asian-led theatre building in the country


    » Develop the building by: Improving front-of-house facilities for audiences; Improve dressing room facilities for artists Improve physical access

    Success will be the sustained development of a diverse range of young and emerging artists on a local, national and international level.

  • Impact


    The project will develop over the long-term the theatre ecology through the promotion and development of the next generation of diverse artists in London and on tour.


    We are in active discussions with Arts Council and other stakeholders including Wandsworth Council to secure their support for the capital project.


    We will maintain regular and ongoing contact with our donors through our monthly newsletter, public meetings and face to face meetings as appropriate to ensure our donors to TARAANGELS are enabled to gain an active understanding of Tara Arts project as it develops

    Tara Arts is located in the centre of Earlsfield in south London, next to the mainline station and near to a range of cafes, bars and restaurants.


    Audience members living, studying and visiting Earlsfield in south London;
    New and diverse audiences including young people aged under 26 years;
    Diverse young and emerging artists;
    Black and Asian young people through active participation;
    The local community through volunteering and professional development.

    Tara Arts is unique for 3 decades we have pioneered East/West theatre nationally and internationally.

    Consistent cross-cultural touring theatre, including four co-productions with the National Theatre;
    Engagement with and nurturing of an exceptional variety of artistically diverse talent including comedian Sanjeev Bhasker, musician Nitin Sawhney, actors Vincent Ebrahim, ;
    Inspiring the growth of other diverse theatre companies, including Tamasha, Kali and Yellow Earth;
