Media Room

To convert an exsisting, under-used room into a 'state of the art' media facility for our service users. It will be more attractive to our younger clients, and can be hired out to others to generate income. We need 'a Smartboard'; laptops; desks; projector; cameras; software and peripherals.

  • Need

    Need

A lot of the work we do at our day service is art and craft based, also cooking, gardening and woodwork. This is not always appealing to younger people, and they need have more options available. Some have expressed a wish to take up digital photography, video and/ or sound production.
We are also looking to attract sustainable sources of funding.

    Solution

The project will provide activities that are better suited to younger people, and more interesting to some of or current clients. It will make better use of a large space, and has the potential to gernerate income from other organisations who hire the room for training or workshops.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide the best quality and most attractive service possible to those with acquired brain injury

    Activities

» Offer an extended range of activities to suit the needs of both current and potential services users by providing a modern media facility.

Success will be... increased numbers of new clients; increased uptake of the facility by current clients; positive feedback from clients.

    Aim 2

To generate additional, sustainable, unrestricted income

    Activities

» Hire out the new facility for a fee, when it is not being used by our clients,as training facility to voluntary and commercial organisations

Success will be...an increase in unrestricted voluntary income

  • Impact

    Impact

Increased skills, knowledge, confidence and self esteem in clients. Potential for client prgression onto futher education and training. Increased opportunities for volunteers.
Levels of success will be demonstrated by formal and informal client consultation; outcomes measuring; consultation with families and carers.

    Risk

Some clients could object to the loss of the pool table in the room. We have dealt with this by emphasising the benefits of the new facility and offering to move the table to a new place.
